Grambort, Bertha (17 June 1873 – 22 Aug. 1950)

Mrs. Fred Grambort of Colby died at 10:20 A.M. Tuesday at the Memorial Hospital at Wausau at the age of 77 years, complication of diseases of several years duration being the cause of her death. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 at Zion Lutheran church, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home until 11:00 A.M. Friday after which time it will lie in state at the church until 2:00 P.M.

Mrs. Grambort, the former Bertha Kobs, was born on June 17, 1873, in Milwaukee county. She came to Colby at the age of three years with her parents. She was married to Fred Grambort at Colby on Nov. 26, 1880, to which union 13 children were born, two of whom died in infancy.

Surviving are her husband and 11 children – Malena Grambort, Mrs. E. W. (Antonia) Doyle, Fred C. Grambort of Chicago, Ill., Edna Grambort of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. A. F. (Alberta) Lidman of Chicago, Hubert Grambort of Ashland, Walter Grambort of Abbotsford, Edwin Grambort of Colby, Gilbert Grambort of Abbotsford, Major Everett Grambort of Glen Burnie, Md., Mrs. Lester (Dorice) Guettschow of Stevens Point. Also 19 grand children and one sister, Mrs. T. Bleichroth of Colby.

Mrs. Grambort, the mother of a large and gifted family, some of whom now have “silver threads among the gold,” died as she lived – honored, loved and trusted. She was a good Christian, a true friend and her devotion to those she loved would make a bright chapter in any life.

Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Grambort, whose death was reported last week, were held at Zion Lutheran church last Friday afternoon, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Her six sons acted as pallbearers and flowers were in charge of Mrs. Ray Gries, Mrs. Howard Bane, Mrs. W. Danielson, Mrs. Milton Meske, Mrs. Paul Fricke and Mrs. Margaret Leichtnam.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral were Major Everett Grambort of Glen Burnie, Md., Miss Edna Grambort of San Francisco, Calif., Hubert Grambort and daughters, Rita, Jacqueline and Irene, of Ashland, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Guettschow and children of Stevens Point, Malena and Fred Grambort, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Doyle and son, Richard, Axel Lidman, Mrs. Matt Waskelo and Edwin Pruessner, all of Chicago, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Gerald H. Kops and children of Milwaukee, Mrs. Fred Baumgart, Mrs. Max Prange and son of Fond du Lac and relatives and friends from Abbotsford and Unity.
