Rosella M. Gagnon

Humbird, Wis. - Rosella M. Gagnon, 76, died on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at her residence, under the care of the Black River Hospice.

She was born March 19, 1931, in Mauston, to parents Victor and Mary (Kirschner) Dlask. She attended Mauston schools and graduated from Mauston High School. She moved to Chicago after graduation and there met her husband, Walter F. Kudron. They were married on Oct. 14, 1950, in Chicago and lived there all their married life. After all of her children entered school, she returned to the workforce at a spring manufacturing plant in Elk Grove Village, Ill. While looking for a home in Wisconsin, her husband was killed in an automobile accident in Wisconsin Rapids on Oct. 6, 1973. Rosella decided to fulfill their dream of moving to Wisconsin and quit her job and moved to Humbird in May of 1974. She met Ray Gagnon and was married on March 14, 1976, in Humbird.

Rosella volunteered at the Humbird library for several years and also served as an election official in Humbird. She worked in the bakery department of John's IGA in Black River Falls until retiring. She enjoyed growing flowers, painting and doing needlework and other crafts. She greatly enjoyed feeding and watching birds and was a member of the Karner Blue Butterfly organization of Jackson County.

She is survived by her husband, Ray, of Humbird; one son, Andrew (fiancée Amanda) Kudron of Sparta; five daughters, Dolores (Jim) Koumos of Ingleside, Ill., Rosemary Bullock of Naperville, Ill., Fran (David) Borreson of Whitehall, Dawn (David) Kaufman of Fairchild and Wendy (Dan) Fitzmaurice of Humbird; two brothers, Lyall (Darlene) Dlask of Baroda, Mich. and Dan Dlask of Mauston; two sisters, Marie McConnell of Mauston and Dolores (Stan) Kowalczyk, of Wautoma; sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; besides many other relatives and friends. Besides her first husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Claude and Hugh Dlask; and sister Florence Carlig.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Rosella M. Gagnon was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2007, at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, Fairview, with burial in Mentor Cemetery, rural Humbird, at a later date. Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton, with a 7:30 p.m. parish prayer service and also one hour prior to services at the church.

Casket bearers were Travis Borreson, Wesston Borreson, Dustin Fitzmaurice, Neil Fitzmaurice, Adam Kaufman, Scott Kaufman and Matthew Kudron.

The family would like memorials to be directed to the Arbor Day Foundation.
