Seebandt, Caroline M (8 April 1923 – 9 March 2008)

Caroline M. Seebandt, 84, of Neillsville died March 9, 2008, at Neillsville Memorial Medical Center.

Caroline was born April 8, 1923, in New Lisbon to Ferdinand and Minnie (Wentland) Matzke. She received her education at the New Lisbon grade and High School. She married Henry A. Seebandt February 28, 1944, at St. John’s Parsonage. Caroline farmed with her parents at New Lisbon and then with her future in-laws at Christie while Henry served in World War II in Italy. Henry and Caroline eventually purchased that farm in the Town of Weston and farmed there for 60 years until her illness in August.

Caroline was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and their Ladies Aid and the Christie Sewing Circle. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and crocheting, travel, bingo, gardening and fishing.

Caroline is survived by one daughter, Claudean (Douglas) Lezotte, and one son, Herman (Patricia Acheson) Seebandt, both of Neillsville; seven grandchildren, Kirit and Jeremy Lezotte, Rachel Dux, Garrett and Elice Seebandt, Marie Stensberg and Clarice Hughes; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry April 20, 1991.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 13, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Christie, with Rev. Daniel Cole officiating.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Buchanan Funeral Home, Neillsville, and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Pallbearers will be her three grandsons and three grandsons-in-law, Michael Dux, David Hughes and Tom Stensberg. Burial will be at the east Weston Cemetery, Christie.

The Buchanan Funeral Home of Neillsville is assisting the family with arrangements.
