Obit: Salter, Theodore R. #3 (1902 – 1954)

(1 Jan. 1902 – 27 Oct. 1954) Funeral services were held at 2 P.M. Sunday at the Hansen Funeral Home in Marshfield, for Theodore R. Salter, 52, who died Thursday afternoon when his car ran into the rear of a stalled truck on Highway 97 a half mile south of the intersection of 97 and 29. Mr. Salter, a former resident of Unity, was alone in the car at the time of the accident. He was rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital at Wausau but was pronounced dead on arrival there. The Rev. Claude Vander Stoep officiated at the service and burial was made in Hillside cemetery, Marshfield. Active pallbearers were Nyole Creed, Forrest Johnson, William and Orville Schultz, Sewell Cook and Ted Domer. Honorary pallbearers were B. J. Higgins, Herbert Steinwand, Melvin Tennis, Arnie Hafemeister, Dr. Harold Wicker, Robert Clay and John Service. Those attending from Unity included: Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Salter, Earl Salter, Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Langjahr, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Neuman, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Tennis, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Domer, Mr. and Mrs. Nyole Creed, Mr. and Mrs. Sewell Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Schulltz, Mr. and Mrs. William Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Johnson. Mr. Salter was born here January 1, 1902 and received his education here ant at the University of Wisconsin. He was married at Colby to the former Lucille Lueloff, October 12, 1959 and lived in Unity until 1950 when they moved to Marshfield. While living here Mr. Salter served as Village President and as treasurer of the school board. He is survived by his wife, 3 daughters, a brother, four sisters and a grandson.
