Funeral services were held April 4 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford. Father Dennis Meulemans presided. Interment was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, township of Little Black. Honorary pallbearers were Melvin Mohan, Walter and Carl Sr. Anderson, Dan Kagel, Louie Koffler, Donna Geiger and Brian Drolshagen. Active pallbearers were Joe Drolshagen, Mike and Jeff Neuman, Rick Zoellick, Rick Crook and Al Prestebak. Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, assisted the family with arrangements. Leighton was born May 9, 1939, in the Township of Little Black. He attended Little White School and Medford High School. He worked at the Medford Creamery for a period of time and then the Midland Cooperative for seven years. Leighton moved to Sheboygan where he met his wife Beverly Kramer. They married in Medford on March 31, 1973, she survives. He drove truck for Ebenreiter Lumber for five years and the couple moved back to the Dorchester area were he was employed at the Dorchester Cooperative for 35 years. Leighton enjoyed watching the Packer games, grilling outside, softball, shooting pool, gardening and playing Santa. He was a member of G & E Design and C & J’s Bar softball teams. He is survived by his wife, Beverly, Dorchester; one daughter, Debbie (Brandon) Recore, Medford; one son Leighton Jr., (Heather) Drolshagen, Dorchester; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Ruby Neuman, Medford; and one brother, John (Charlotte) Drolshagen, Medford. Leighton was preceded in death by his father George Drolshalgen; and his mother, Elva Anderson. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family that will be designated at a later date. |
