Pogodzinski, age 73, of Thorp, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, on Wednesday, April 2, 2008. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2008, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Fr. Keith Apfelbeck officiated and entombment followed at Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home on Sunday, April 6, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary service and at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Mary Ann Seichter was born on February 20, 1935 in Boyd, WI to Alfred and Frances (Weigel) Seichter. She was raised and received her education in Boyd, graduating from Stanley high School in 1953. After graduation, Mary worked for a short time in Chippewa Falls before moving to Chicago. Mary was united in marriage, in Chicago, to Stanley Pogodzinski in September of 1956. After her husband’s discharge from the service in 1958, they moved to a farm north of Thorp and raised their family. They later divorced. Mary then moved to Altoona and worked for Heyde Health in food service. In 1997, Mary moved back to Thorp and bought a home, where she has resided until her death. She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church and its PCCW, and had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her grandkids, family gatherings, Packer games and gardening. She is survived by nine children: Sue (Troy) Kalis of Wells, MN, Eugene (Michele) of Thorp, Jeri-Ann Anderson (special friend Roger Ausman) of Eau Claire, Ken (Brenda) of Withee, Chris (Jack) Wissell of Willard, Jim (Lyn) of Thorp, Dolly (Pat) Bauer of Thorp, Dan of Thorp, and Rick of Thorp; Sixteen grandchildren: Ashley, Aaron and Austin Pogodzinski, Heather and Ryan Anderson, Katie and Charlie Pogodzinski, Jacob Tanner and Lucas Wissell, Zach and Chanda Bauer, Emerson and Arron Kalis, and Tali and Carly Frerichs; three great-grandchildren: Seth, Haley and Gloria; seven brothers: Bob (Joyce) Seichter of Boyd, Florian (Myra) Seichter of Cedar Falls, IA, Norb (Arlene) Seichter of Boyd, Herb (Grace) Seichter of Boyd, Marty (Lorraine) Seichter of Boyd, Sylvester “Tom” Seichter of Boyd, and Felix Seichter of Kenosha; three sisters: Dorothy (Ben) Potaczek of Stanley, Alice (Bill) Gadke of Rice Lake, Theresa Johnson of Marshall, WI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Alvin and Raymond Seichter; and one sister, Lorraine Matthews.
