Obit: Grata, Walter “Grandpa” #2 (1917 – 2008)

Monday, April 14, 2008 Grata, Walter (14 Dec. 1917 –10 April 2008) Walter Grata Walter Grata, 90, of Granton, died April 10, 2008, at his home on Maple Street. A memorial graveside service for Walter will be held at 3 p.m. April 24, at the Windfall Cemetery in Granton. The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Walter's family with funeral arrangements. Walter Grata was born Dec. 14, 1917, in Chicago, the son of Valentine and Angeline (Satuwa) Grata. He worked for the SunBeam Co. in Chicago as a plater. He married his wife, Evelyn on Feb. 1, 1943. Evelyn died in the late 1960s, and Walter retired from SunBeam at the age of 62. In 1980, he moved to Granton with his family. He is survived by two sons: Robert Grata of Granton and Lester Grata of Chicago; four grandchildren: Rick, Jennifer, Tracy and Susan and nine great grandchildren. |
