City Briefs

Miss Ina Chase left Sunday morning for Mellen, where she is engaged in teaching, after a two weeks’ vacation in Neillsville with her sisters, Miss Fanny Chase, Mrs. Lillian Whitney and Mrs. Otto Kutchera.

Mrs. Florence Asplin and three children of Edgeley, N.D., are here for a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Gerhardt. Another of her daughters, Miss Florence Asplin, who is taking nurse cadet training at St. Joseph’s hospital in Marshfield, spent the week-end in Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. Arman Gerhardt and son, Stuart, Owen, visited Sunday with Neillsville relatives.

The sewing circle of the Reformed church will meet this afternoon (Thursday) at the home of Mrs. Henry Embke.

Mrs. Ernest Reimer and son, John, of Muskegon, Mich., who is here on a visit with relatives, plans to leave January 18 with her brother, Pvt. Roy West, for a visit with their sister, Mrs. Wilbur Smith, in Milwaukee, and will then return to her home.

R. L. Christianson left Sunday night for New York City, expecting to be gone about two months on business.

Roman Halle returned Tuesday from a visit with relatives in Los Angeles, Cal., and points in Texas.

Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Frantz and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Volkmann left January 2 for Chicago. Mr. Volkmann went on from there on a business trip to Canada.

Mrs. O. W. Schoengarth and Mrs. Harry Johnson of Madison went by plane Saturday from Madison to Alexandria, La.; to visit with Capt. and Mrs. Lowell Schoengarth. The two grandmothers were accompanied by their grandson, Don Schoengarth, who will visit his parents.

Judge O. W. Schoengarth is holding court today (Thursday) for Judge Harry Perry at Black River Falls.

Mrs. Marguerite Listeman entertained her “Eva’s” bowling team – Harriet Dillon, Leona Hansen, Mildred Oestreich, Victoria Welsh and Helen Pagenkopf – at a Christmas party Wednesday evening.
