News: Black River (7 June 1945)
Surnames: McDonald, Wonn, Bush, Duxbury, Troxel, Hansen, Wheaton, Smith ----Source: Clark County Press (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 06/07/1945 Down Black River J. R. McDonald, prominent business man of Black River Falls, died last week in a Madison hospital. Mrs. M. C. Wonn is closing the dental offices in Black River Falls of her late husband, Dr. Wonn. She has come on from Santa Barbara, Cal., and is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Bush. She spent Memorial day with her husband’s parents. Lieut. Wonn was lost when the Bismarck Sea was destroyed in the Pacific. Mrs. Vernon Duxbury of Alma Center is suffering from a badly sprained ankle. Ligaments were torn in a fall of a portion of a chimney which was being removed. Forrest Troxel’s replacement in Germany is his own brother, Vernon. Forrest is back in Alma Center with an honorable discharge. He received severe wounds as a paratrooper, but has recovered. It was an unusual coincidence that his brother, also a paratrooper, came in as a replacement when Forrest left. Forrest and his mother recently visited his sister, Mrs. Orbert Hansen and family in Neillsville. Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Wheaton of Alma Center celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on June 2.
