(15 FEB 1876 – 24 NOV 1945) Bertha Evelyn Dix, daughter of M.C. and Ellen Dix, was born Feb. 15, 1876 in Watertown, New York, and passed away at her home near Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 1945, at the age of 69 years and nine months. At the age of six years she came with her parents to Dunn County where she lived until 1899, when she was united in marriage to Charles Markee of Vernon County. There they made their home until 1912, when they moved to Clark County. To this union seven children were born, two of which preceded her in death in infancy. The remaining are Mrs. G.E. (Edna) Capes, Mrs. Etta Otto, Mrs. Wm. (Dorothy) Franz, all of Owen; and Mrs. Paul (Nina) Pederstuen of Prairie Farm, and Clarence, at home. She also leaves to mourn her loss one sister, Mrs. A.J. (Lula) Burett of Bremerton, Wash., one brother, Frank Dix, Menomonie, seventeen grandchildren, besides many nieces and nephews. Interment was made at the Riverside Cemetery. |
