----Siefert, Arthur (19 Feb. 1871 – 28 July 1945)

Funeral services for Arthur Seifert, 74, Chili painting contractor who passed away during his sleep at his home July 28, were held Tuesday afternoon from the Gilbertson funeral home in Granton. Christian Science services were read by Mrs. Harley Seif of Neillsville, and burial was made in the Lynn cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Carl Bladl, Ernest Neinas, Jim Tilton, Elliott Herbert, Phelps Spry and John Bushon.

Born at Random Lake on February 19, 1871, Mr. Seifert lived as a youth in Milwaukee, where he worked several years as a cooper. Later he moved to Chicago and operated as a painting contractor.

During his time in the cities the lure of the Wisconsin woods brought him to Lindsey for hunting, and on one of those trips he had a log cabin built. This cabin became the headquarters for hunting parties with friends from Milwaukee and Chicago.

His experience on the hunt became his favorite topic, for rarely did he fail to get a deer.

In 1912 Mr. Seifert purchased two farms six miles southeast of Lynn, and there he lived with his brother, Theodore, and family. For many years the location was known as “Seifert’s Corner.”

About 1931 Mr. Seifert moved to Chili, where he operated a cooper shop and also worked as a painting contractor.

Surviving are four nieces, Rose Seifert, Lillian Gray and Aleta Beck; and two nephews, Clemens and Melvin Rheingans.
