Mrs. Joseph Perko, Sr., died Sunday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. She was 65. Her son Albert arrived from South America Sunday, just a few hours after his mother’s death. He had been called home when it was evident that his mother’s illness was serious.

John Volk had a fortunate escape Saturday night when his car overturned on the Seif and Hendren road between the Nelson Bridge and the Woodland View cheese factory. The road there is being reconditioned, and when Mr. Volk hit the rough part, enroute to Eau Claire, his care went out of control and landed upside down in the ditch. The top was smashed, but Mr. Volk was able to crawl out. He went to the home of his brother Rudolph near at hand, got help to right the car, and went on. The car was banged up, but able to navigate.

Fewer deer were shot near here than usual. These got their bucks: Anton Prebil, George Rauen, Theodore Schwamb, Anton Tolaney, Frank Lamovec, Frank Koschak and Felix Perko.

Fred Schiltz, Jr., has recently undergone surgery at the Rochester, Minn., hospital.

Cadet Nurse Florence Bayuk, Marshfield, was home over the weekend with her parents.

Miss Donna Parkel, who was home from Milwaukee last week, has returned to resume her studies.

Mrs. Frank Petkovsek is still a patient at the Sacred Heart hospital at Eau Claire. She has undergone two operations recently. Her condition is reported favorable.

The Ladies’ Altar Society of Willard Celebrated its thirtieth anniversary last Sunday. The ladies served a breakfast at the West side hall and also elected offices for the ensuring years.

The Holy family society No. 136 K. S. K. J. of Willard also held its annual meeting last Sunday, with all the old officers elected.
