We wish you all a very prosperous New Year.

Clarence Rouse transacted business at Colby last Thursday.

Mrs. Denney left for Rochester, where she was called by the serious illness of a sister.

Most of our people have been doing their Xmas shopping between trains, in South Abbotsford (Colby).

Your correspondent is planning on making a New Year’s resolution, so watch this column closely hereafter.

City Marshal Cody of Colby was a prominent figure on our streets Tuesday, but the cold weather made him button his coat tight, thus hiding his official star.

The fire department was called out Tuesday morning, in answer to a call from the Gerlach residence in the East ward. It proved to be only a chimney fire, but was a great help in the line of exercise for the fire boys who had eaten heavily the day before.

Rev. Joseph Schuster has taken charge of the local Catholic church, and from his article in last week’s Clarion we consider him a live wire, and take pleasure in welcoming him to our midst.

The local high school basket ball teams were both taken into camp by similar teams from the Rib Lake high school the scores being, boys 31 to 6 and the girls losing 22 to 1. The playing was much closer than the scores would indicate and deserving of a much better crowd. The local players are quite confident of the future as this is their first defeat of the season.

Your correspondent has been informed that John Larson and John (Jack) Merget were somewhat peeved to find that their names were not on the list of “Abbotsford Leap Year Bargains.” We thought they were both old enough to know better but find on inquiring into the facts that *** Note: The rest of the article was cut off and was not available at the time of transcription.
