Manthey, Sauer, Howell, Horn, Nemesh, Strebe, Patitz ----Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 01/04/1917 ----Abbotsford - Jan. 4, 1917 Quinn Wilson returned home from Durand on Wednesday last. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Taylor, of Owen, visited at the Mordt home last week. A. J. Garvue and wife visited Mr. Garvue’s parents at Iola, Wis., at yule tide. “Jack” Meyers and wife of Clintonville visited at the home of Mr. Meyer’s father in this village over New Year. John Paustenbach spent a couple of days here last week in the interests of the Val. Blatz Brewing Co. of Milwaukee. Otto Groelle returned to his duties as salesman at Milwaukee on Tuesday last, after spending Christmas with his family here. Robt. Johnson, after spending Xmas with his parents and “other friends” here, returned to his duties as cashier of the Laona Bank, on Wednesday last. Mrs. M. Burbach and Mrs. Manthey of Minneapolis, and Henry Sauer of Cambria returned to their respective homes on Sunday last after having visited for a week at the Louis Burbach home. Winifred Howell and Dorothy Horn of the Eau Claire Normal, Bessie Nemesh of the Eau Claire Training School, and Ralph Stebe of the La Crosse Business College are home for the holidays, after which they will return to school work. Henry Patitz, late of this place, was instantly killed in a head-on collision in the yards at Stevens Point on Saturday morning last.
