Mrs. Nancy Jane Richardson, 82, died Monday, Dec. 23, 1946, in a hospital in Portland, Ore., after an illness of one week. Death was attributed to a heart ailment. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Portland, and burial took place in that city.

Nancy Jane Hannah, daughter of Charles and Mary Hannah, was born Jan. 30, 1864, in the state of Maine, and came to Wisconsin with her parents at the age of six years. She was the eldest of her family of brothers and sisters, and the first one called by death. Her parents settled in the town of Weston (Clark Co., Wis.), where she grew to womanhood and received her education. Her father, a native of Canada, died in 1907. Her mother was born in County Darry, Ireland, in 1840, and died in Neillsville in 1930, at the age of 90 years.

Following her marriage Mrs. Richardson lived for a time in the town of York, and later returned to a farm in the town of Weston, where she continued to resided until about 40 years ago. Then she and her husband moved to Neillsville. Her first husband, Robert McKimm, died many years ago. After the death of her second husband, John Richardson, about five years ago, she gave up her home here and went to live with her daughter, Mrs. Earl Lafrd, in Portland. She spent several weeks last spring and summer in Neillsville, visiting with relatives and friends.

Mrs. Richardson was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and was a faithful worker and attendant as long as her health permitted. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge. She was a woman of unusually sunny and cheerful disposition, and had many friends in this community.

She is survived by two daughters, Nellie, Mrs. Walter Ellington; and Mamie, Mrs. Earl Laird, both of Portland Ore. A daughter, Della, Mrs. James Redmond, died in Glendive, Mont., soon after the first World War. A son, Claire, is also deceased. Also surviving are the following step-children: Jack Richardson of Eau Claire; Hal Richardson of St. Paul; Naomi (Babe), Mrs. Clint Cover of Markville, Minn. Four step-children are deceased, Dimple, Mrs. Mark Andrews; Nellie, Mrs. Walter Kelch; Ella and George Richardson. There are three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, also 15 step-grandchildren, and a large number of step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Surviving are three brothers and four sister: William Hannah, Mineral Point; James Hannah, Priest river, Idaho; Robert Hannah, Portland, Ore; Nellie, Mrs. Elmer Brown, McMinnville, Ore.; Cinda, Mrs. Van Langford, Portland, Ore.; Minnie, Mrs. George Barr, Silverton, Ore; Elizabeth, Mrs. William Hurlburt, Neillsville.
