February 26, 1948 ---Mashin, Vincent (22 May 1869 – 18 February 1948) Funeral services for Vincent Mashin, 78, Town of Pine Valley, were held Saturday afternoon (February 21, 1948), at the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Samuel D. Robbins, pastor of the Congregational Church officiated; burial was made in the Town of Mentor Cemetery. Mr. Mashin died suddenly at 8 o’clock Wednesday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Orin Eastman, in the Town of Pine Valley, where he made his home. Mr. Mashin was born May 22, 1869, in Czechoslovakia, where he received his early education. He lived for a time in Vienna, Austria, and there learned the shoemaker trade. He came to the United States when 21 and worked at railroading in Chicago. He was married to Mary Manhul February 5, 1894, in Chicago. They resided in Chicago until 1904, when they moved to Clark County, settling on a farm in the Town of Mentor. He lived on the farm until after the death of his wife in 1932, when he sold the farm and has since made his home with his daughter. He had been a resident of Clark County 44 years. Surviving are four children and six grandchildren. Besides Mrs. Eastman are three sons: George and Albert Mashin of Neillsville, and Edward Mashin of Humbird. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Pallbearers were: Emil Zank, Otto and Willie Gehrt, Christ Mohr, Arthur Schultz and Louis Embke. Miss Phyllis Fahlgren and Miss Hazel Millard sang, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Florence Counsell. The son, Edward and his wife of Humbird and Mr. and Mrs. George Jirak, friends of the family from Chicago, were here for the funeral. |
