Mrs. George (Louisa) Laffe, 78, of Humbird, Wisconsin, died at midnight May 12, (1948) at her home in Humbird after a long illness. Her body lay in state in the Georgas Funeral Home until May 15, when funeral services were held, at 1:30 in the family home in Humbird and at 2:00 o’clock at the Evangelical and Reformed Church at Humbird. The officiating clergyman was the Reverend George Hohmann. Mrs. Nina Stuve and Miss Enla Briggs, with Mr. Lang, had charge of the flowers.

The pallbearers were Jacob Hefty, Fred Christon, George Mueller, Fred Thieler, John Gruib and Morrtz Krischmer. Mrs. Walter Smith and Mrs. Will Thieler sang, accompanied by Mrs. George Hohmann at the organ.

From Melrose, Wisconsin, came Mr. and Mrs. Frank Haag, Leonard and Gorden Haag, Herman Laffe, Joyce Laffe and Mr. and Mrs. Art Laffe. Mrs. Haag is a daughter of Mrs. Laffe. From New London, Wisconsin, came Mrs. Dauterman; Mrs. Mary Iffland, a daughter; Mrs. Lund; and Mrs. Minnie Houk. Others from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. James Sutton, Merrillan; Mrs. Wallerman, Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Eisenhard, Alma Center; Miss Gertrude Clouse, Madison; Mr. Ben Clouse, Loyal; Mr. Henry Eisenhard, Chicago; and Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Laffe, Ida Grove, Iowa.

Mrs. Laffe was born Louisa Eisenhard in Germany, where she was educated. She came to America with her parents when she was sixteen. They came directly to Clark County and located on a farm near Humbird. She married George Laffe, and the young couple moved to Winona, Minnesota, where they lived until 44 years ago, when they moved back to Humbird. There they operated the Humbird Hotel until Mr. Laffe’s death seven years ago. Mrs. Laffe was a member of the R. N. A., the Women’s Guild of the Evangelical and Reformed Church, and a charter member of the church.

She is survived by five of her six children: Louie, of Humbird; Leonard, of Humbird; Henry, of Humbird, Emma, Mrs. Frank Haag, of Melrose; Mary, Mrs. Hugh Iffland, of New London, a brother Henry, Chicago, 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were a son Frederick, and two brothers and a sister.
