William Radtke, 86, of Neillsville, died at 8:00 p.m. June 3 (1948) at the home of his son, Carl Radtke, 227 North Grand Avenue.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Georgas Funeral Home and at St. John’s Lutheran Church, with the Rev. William Lauterbach officiating.

Pallbearers were the Messrs. Ernest Bieneck, Henry Naedler, Henry Bartell, Nick Schaefer, Edward Gault, and Otto Kalsow. Mrs. James Hauge and the Misses Ruth and Dorothy Kunze were in charge of the flowers. Mrs. William Baumann, accompanied by Miss Carol Wang, sang “Wo Fidet Die Seele Heimat Die Ruh”.

From out-of-town came Miss Augusta Radtke of Lannon, a daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Rennicke and August Radtke of Milwaukee. Burial took place in the Neillsville Cemetery.

Mr. Radtke was born on October 13, 1861, in Germany, where he lived, received his education and married, in 1885, Emilia Schultz who preceded him in death. In 1889 he and his wife came to America and settled in Milwaukee. In 1893 the Radtke’s moved onto a farm in the Town of York, where they lived until1917, when they moved into Neillsville. They lived in Neillsville from then on, Mrs. Radtke dying in 1945.

Surviving are his daughter, Lena, Mrs. Northup, of Neillsville, son, Carl Radtke of Neillsville; and daughter, Augusta, of Lannon, also a sister, Mrs. Tena Wetland of Deerfield. Five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive him.
