(30 NOV 1911 – 20 AUG 2008) Selma E. Rueth, 96, Marshfield, formerly of Loyal, died peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, in the palliative care unit at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 23, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal. The Rev. James Logan officiated. Burial followed in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery. Selma Elizabeth Ploman was born on Nov. 30, 1911, in Templeton, Iowa, to Edward and Elizabeth (nee Zaiger) Ploman. Her family moved to Wisconsin when she was a young children. She attended a small country school near Riplinger, and later earned her GED in 1981. As a young woman, she worked as a housekeeper for Dr. Milbee and Dr. Potter of the Marshfield Clinic. She married Peter Rueth on June 24, 1935, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield. They briefly farmed near Loyal before moving into the city of Loyal. She worked for the Loyal Canning Factory and at Roundy's while taking care of her husband for 22 years, after he suffered a stroke in 1952. Her husband died on June 26, 1974. She continued to reside in Loyal until entering the Marshfield Care Center in the late 1990's. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and its PCCW, and was formerly active with the Loyal Senior Citizens. She had many interests, but especially enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, reading, and most of all spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by one daughter, Gertrude (Jerry) Kolb, Spencer; one brother, Walter Ploman, Granite Shoals, Texas; seven grandchildren, Pam Kolb, Madison, Paula Kolb (special friend Art Cordova) Madison, Carol (Tony) Camin, Brooklyn, New York, Tim Kolb, Lowell, and Jon Peter Kelty, Julie Kelty, and James Kelty, all of Loyal; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Peter; a daughter, Patricia Kelty, on July 17, 2008; five sisters, Anna Schofield, Laura Tyrolt, Helena Ross, Rose Dietsche, and Bertha Foster; and three brothers, Charlie Ploman, Edward Ploman, and Fred Ploman.
