June 24, 1948 ---Imig, William Peter (19 April 1873 – 21 June 1948) William Peter Imig, 75, of Neillsville, was stricken at his work in the Neillsville Hotel, Monday, June 21, 1948, at 1:30 p.m. Mr. Imig had been very ill with heart trouble in March of this year, but had recovered and had apparently been in good health until his sudden fatal attack. Funeral services will be held Thursday June 21, 1948, at 1:30 p.m. in the Georgas Funeral Home and at 2:00 p.m. from the Congregational Church, with the Rev. S. D. Robbins officiating clergyman. He received his education in the Fort Atkinson public schools and worked on his father’s farm. He learned the blacksmith trade at Cambridge, but later returned to farming in Jefferson County. In 1901 he, with his parents and his brother, Arthur, came to Clark County and settled on the farm which is now occupied by Arthur. They brought with them a carload of the first purebred Holstein cattle to be brought into Clark County. In 1906 the two brothers, William and Arthur, purchased from their father the farm which has been known as the Imig Bros farm ever since. William Imig dedicated his life to purebred cattle and the Imig brothers have been widely known in the breeding of purebred Holstein cattle for over forty years. William never married, and is survived by two brothers, Charles, of Wisconsin Rapids, and Arthur, of Neillsville. One sister, Mrs. Amelia Maxson, died in 1942. Five years ago Mr. Imig made his home in the city of Neillsville. For many years he was the treasurer of the Uncle Sam School district.
