Long Distance Office Moved From Abbotsford

The Abbotsford toll center of the Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company was transferred Wednesday noon to Colby and Marshfield. Part of the long distance traffic which previously was routed through Abbotsford is now being sent through Colby and Marshfield.

Removal of the long distance office from Abbotsford does not affect the local office, which is operated by the Commonwealth Telephone Company.

Long distance operators formerly employed here will be assigned to other offices. Miss Frieda Wiedeman, chief operator, will be transferred to the toll office at Milwaukee; and Miss Leona Papenfuss and Miss Florence Dietsche have been transferred to Stevens Point.

High Prices Not The Whole Story

The benefits of farm cooperation cannot be entirely measured by the year-stick of higher prices. Improved basic conditions and sounder marketing practices are vital results of cooperatives marketing that were not always immediately reflected in the farm price structure.

The farmer wants a stable market as much as he wants greater return for what he sells - he knows that good prices and disorganized markets do not go together. He wants to learn the more scientific production methods, which permit him to reduce operating costs and so bring him a better return even if selling process remain stationary. These are the things that the co-ops are constantly working to achieve. And they benefit the consumer as well as the producer.
