---Colby - Sept. 9, 1885

A stringer gave way on the Eau Pleine river bridge, on the Wausau road, that will necessitate considerable work.

Sheriff Tolford has appointed Phil Henkel deputy in place of Henry Siegrist, resigned. Phil makes a good officer.

Frank Riplinger is siding up his store, and other wise improving it, preparing for the cold, chilling blasts of November.

Doc. Griffin will leave Colby, next Tuesday, the 15th, and does not expect to return, so hurry up with your dental work.

Geo. Carpenter will give a social dance, in Colby Hall, Saturday evening, to which all are most cordially invited. Good music has been engaged, all go.

Bridge builder Callahan and his crew stopped here last Friday and rebuilt the sidewalk running south, along the track, from the depot platform. It is an excellent job and is a big improvement.

Juley & Shortell have got their saloon in such shape now that it is a favorite resort. It is clean and neat, light and airy, and fresh beer can be found on tap there every time, sometimes.

Kautsky, the dentist will be in Colby Friday, the 11th. Teeth extracted without pain by the use of the harmless anesthetic, Vitalized air. Gold filling a specialty. The next day (Saturday) he will be in Unity.

Attend the Social Dance in Colby Hall Saturday evening.
