Miss Barbara Jean Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Nelson of Stetsonville, and Wayne Hasseldick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hasseldick of Colby, exchanged marriage vows during a 3:00 o’clock nuptial ceremony Saturday afternoon in Zion Lutheran church in Stetsonville, Rev. William Holzhausen reading the marriage vows.

Chantilly lace and nylon tulle over taffeta were used to fashion the bridal gown. Closing the bodice down the back were tiny covered buttons which also secured the long tapering sleeves of lace. A lace insert highlighted the V-neckline, and the entrained skirt of nylon tulle had lace inserts and appliquéd trim. Her imported silk illusion veil in finger-tip length was attached to a scalloped fan of pleated tulle set on lace, with twists of pearls to add interest.

Red and white roses and streamers of white carnations formed the cascade bouquet, tied with white net ribbon, which the bride carried.

Miss Ethel Hasseldick, sister of the groom, was maid of honor and Donald Nelson of Stetsonville was best man. The six bridesmaids and their escorts were Mrs. “Bud” Blumenstein of Medford and Sam Gosse of Colby, cousins of the groom, Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Purgett of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hansen of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Voit of Wisconsin Rapids and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Luick of Stetsonville. The latter four couples are brothers-in-law and sisters of the bride.

Their identically styled gowns had fitted bodices with matching bolero jackets of lace, in floor-length, the skirts were of six tiers of nylon net over taffeta. The maid of honor carried a bouquet of yellow, violet and white carnations, complemented with a matching headpiece, and the aides had bouquets of yellow and white carnations.

After the church service the newlyweds greeted their relatives and friends during a reception held at the home of the bride’s parents. Later, they left on a honeymoon to northern Wisconsin. A 1951 graduate of the Colby High School, the groom has been employed at the Farmers Pride Cheese Factory. While he is in service his bride will be employed in Milwaukee.
