Mrs. Emily Jackson, 79, died Friday, September 17, (1948), at her home at E. Fourth Street, where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Parry. She had been ill for three weeks with pleurisy, and suddenly took a turn for the worse. The body lay in state at the Cole Funeral Home.

Funeral services, under the auspices of the O.E.S., were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Neillsville Masonic Temple, with the Rev. N. J. Dechant as officiating clergyman. Interment was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Jackson was born in Neillsville in 1869, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Mary) Neverman. She spent her entire life here. In 1888 she married Ole A. Jackson, who died in 1905. Three children were the result of the union, all of them surviving. They are Mrs. Dave (Esther) Parry, Neillsville, Mrs. Violet Beggs, Indianapolis; and Leo M. Jackson, King.

Mrs. Jackson is also survived by two brothers, J. L. Neverman, Neillsville and E. A. Neverman, Arlington Heights, Ill.; and by five sisters: Mrs. Rose Tompkins, Neillsville, Mrs. May Williams, Neillsville, Mrs. Alice Flynn, Neillsville, Mrs. Clara Minta, Indianapolis, and Mrs. Viola Skewis, Tacoma, Wash.

Mrs. Jackson was a charter member of the Congregational Church and of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of the O.E.S., No. 60, Carmi Chapter, and of the R.N.A.

Pallbearers were Don Peters, George Zimmerman, Frank Brown, Herbert Brown, E. H. Snyder and Dr. M.E. Bennett. Mrs. Helen Smith sang two selections: “The Old Rugged Cross” and “No Night There,” accompanied by Mrs. Millard Cole. Flower ladies were Mrs. Hazel Brown, Mrs. Agnes Paulson, Miss Fern Robinson, Miss Hilda Kurth and Mrs. Jess Snyder.

Among those who came from out-of-town to attend the funeral were Mrs. Violet Beggs, a daughter of the deceased, from Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Leo M. Jackson, son of the deceased, and his wife, from King; their son, Robert Jackson, of California; Mr. and Mrs. John Minta, brother-in-law and sister of the deceased, and their daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Darnell, all of Indianapolis, Ind.; Mrs. Claflin of Barron; Mrs. Rose Svirnoff of Minneapolis; and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wagner, of Tomah.
