Mary Covell exchanged wedding vows with Robert Drescher in a seven o’clock
candlelight service June 8 at the Congregational Church in Neillsville. The
Rev. Frank B. Harcey performed the double ring ceremony before a chancel banked
with baskets of white gladioli, pink painted daisies and four lighted
candelabra. Parents of the
couple are Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Covell of East Shore, Detroit Lakes, Minn., and
Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Drescher of Neillsville. For her wedding
the bride wore a princess style floor-length dress of white Chantilly lace over
white taffeta. It was fashioned with a full skirt, and a v-neck, edged with
pearls. Long sleeves came to a point at the wrists. A shoulder-length veil
with a pearl tiara completed her ensemble, which was fashioned by her mother.
She carried her mother’s Bible covered with lace, a white orchid, lilies of the
valley and stephanotis. Miss Caryl Seif
of Neillsville was her maid-of-honor. Serving as her bridesmaids were Rona Bunch
of Hudson, Joan Carlson of Tomah, and Mrs. Virgil Lezotte of Neillsville.
Junior bridesmaids were Susan Covell of De Funiak Springs, Fla., and Betty
Huebner. The groom was
attended by Vernon Drescher of Neillsville, as best man. Groomsmen were Billy
Covell of Detroit Lakes, Minn., Duane Huebner and Virgil Lezotte. Ushers were
Dennis Harcey and Lamoine Anason. Miss Covell was
given in marriage by her father. Organ music was
played by Mrs. Jess W. Scott before and during the ceremony. Miss Mary
Ylvisaker sang, “The Wedding Prayer” and The Lord’s Prayer.”
A reception was
held and a buffet lunch was served in the church dining room immediately
following the ceremony. The tables were covered with pink tablecloths, silver
branched candelabra and a pink centerpiece of painted daisies.
The bride and
groom are graduates of Neillsville High School. The bride also attended a year
at Wisconsin State College at Eau Claire and has been employed at Northwestern
Bell in Minneapolis. The groom has employment with the Nelson Muffler
Corporation in Neillsville. Upon their
return from a wedding trip to southern Wisconsin they will reside at 434
½ Hewett Street, Neillsville Out of Town people attending were: V. C. Woelffer, Lake Mills; Mrs. Kenneth Maguire, Rolla, Mo.; Mrs. R. E. Lind, Omaha, Neb.; Dr. and Mrs. P. R. Hommel, Elkader, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Covell and three children, De Funiak Springs, Fla.; Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Bunce and family, Hudson; Mr. and Mrs. Emil (lines missing). |
