F. A. Lee, express agent at this place, has been attending to the duties of messenger between this place and Merrillan during the week, in addition to his duties as agent, the route having been left without a messenger through the resignation of Arthur Decker.

Geo. B. Begley, of Greenwood, left for Dakota last Monday, where he will probably locate. George has been a resident of this county from childhood and his friends are as numerous as his acquaintance in general, and the community that receives him as a citizen is to be congratulated.

Robert Schofield, of Greenwood, accompanied by his brother, P.J. Schofield, of Pine Valley, left for Big-Bug, Arizona, last Tuesday. Robert to look after is property in that vicinity, and Philander to look the country over with a view of locating.

A swell barber by the name of Appleby, hailing from Boscobel, Grant county, who had held a chair in Aldrich’s shop for a few months, skipped last Monday morning. Leaving nothing behind that he could reach except a few small bills.

J. J. McClennahan, who had been acting as advance-man for the May Wheeler Dramatic Company for several months, returned to this city last Thursday, the party having disbanded the day previous.

Mrs. Fannie Merrill, of Gary, Dakota, formerly of Humbird, spent the latter part of last week and the first of the present visiting friends and relatives in this city.
