YORK CENTER: The most of the boys in town are engaging in log driving. Price’s logs are wending their way through the short turns and bends of O’Neill creek, and some of the boys have gone to their banks with wet clothes.

S. Whitcomb and George Gardener, the two old, fat coons, returned home last Sunday after having a long siege in the wilds of Northern Wisconsin, John O’Connor still faces the mighty oaks with a smile.

THORP ITEMS: Mr. Houlshousen is spending a few days with friends in Sheboygan.

Mr. F. W. Smith is erecting a large and commodious building near the depot. The firt floor is to be used as a dry goods establishment and the second floor to be finished off for a hall, for the use of secret societies.

The Willing Workers society will meet at Mrs. H. E. Lyttles on Thursday of this week. A general good time is expected.

The Good Templars are adding to their numbers They now number thirty-six and a large number is to be initiated at their next meeting.

Miss Gussie Drake has just returned from Oshkosh Normal school, and is visiting friends in this town. She anticipates teaching in this vicinity.

Mr. Chas. Stafford and R. Mead are prospecting for pine and other timber for the Cadott Co.

Mr. Eddy is erecting a fine residence just opposite his old home.

On Saturday of last week the people of Thorp were again swindled by Prof. Wiggins and troop. He visited this place last summer and it now appears that the people imagined that the hair of the dog would cure the bite.

Geo. Henshall is remodeling his house and when it is completed he will serve up meals to the weary traveler in first-class style.

N. L. O. Garrison has just received a large stock of spring and summer goods.

Miss Mabel Lyttie is visiting her brother H. E. Lyttle of this place.
