Geo. Morrison, the man who stole a team from E. Webster recently, was arrested at Stevens Point, last Friday. Morrison took the train for Chicago, at Junction City and, although changed in appearance by having his bear shaved off and hair clipped, he was recognized by a gentleman on the train, by the name of C. C. Gifford, who informed the conductor who his passenger was, and stopping the train before approaching the depot at Stevens Point, the conductor ran ahead and informed an officer, who promptly arrested Morrison when the train stopped at the depot. A telegram was sent to sheriff Myers, who went to Stevens Point on Monday and returned with the prisoner on Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday morning he was brought before Justice Kountz, James O’Neill as council, and an examination being waved, he was bound over in the sum of $1,000, and not securing the necessary bond, was remanded back to the county jail to await his trail at the next term of the circuit court.

HUMBIRD HUMMINGS: James Wilson, who was formally in the employ of Cody Bros. and has been spending time the winter at Green Bay, returned last week to look after business matters in this vicinity.

We hear that our old friend L. A. Stiles is to be married at Eau Claire today, his father went to that city this morning to attend the wedding. Louis we wish you prosperity and lots of it.

C. W. Buell is taking in Humbird this week.

C. C. Edwards is now on the war path selling self binders.

Chis Rexer has a sister and several nephews and nieces visiting him, they are fresh from the fatherland.

Mrs. Wise is very sick, Dr. Hall is attending her.

Mr. Melcher bought the Alderman farm at the sale last week for $1,000, he will make it his home hereafter.

E. A. Freeman is enjoying a visit from his sister, Mrs. Jewel.

Dr. Hall has bought a lot just south of K. S. Edward’s house, he will become a permanent resident.

THORP ITEMS: Mr. Sargent made Eau Claire, a flying visit on Thursday, of last week.

Mrs. C. F. Stone is able to be around again, after an illness of two weeks.

Mrs. John Glander died on Thursday afternoon, after a brief illness; she leaves a husband and six small children.

T. O. Mosher has been making great improvements on his building, in the past week.
