The authorities have determined to pave Main Street with round heads or cobble stones, and the contract has been let to F. D. Lindsay.

The examination of Huge Perkins, the slayer of Isaac Meddaught was held before Justice Sturdevant on last Thursday, and he was held for trial without bail.

Hamilton Gregory of Alma Center, Jackson county, formerly a resident of Black River Falls, called yesterday. He was in the city for the purpose of being examined by Dr. Morley, pension examining surgeon.

Mrs. Mary Allen, wife of W. R. Allen of this city, died on Tuesday June 3, and was buried from the Presbyterian church on Thursday. She had been an invalid for several years. She leaves a large family.

On Friday evening June 6th, a meeting was held at the Presbyterian church in Nasonville, for the purpose of organizing a Butler Club, Timothy Ingle was chose chairman and I. W. Lee secretary. Many of the citizens were present including many ladies.

THORP ITEMS; Mr. Lytle has purchased the residence of Wm. Maddock opposite Dr. Selden’s and is making considerable improvements in the looks of the house.

Mr. A. B. Ranson of Eau Claire, is spending a few days with his daughter Clara, who is teaching here.

The ladies social circle met at the residence of E. T. Brown on Thursday of last week. Everybody had a splendid time.

The Baptist had a bee one day last week to clear off the lot for their church, they have a very pleasant location on the south side of town.

Mrs. Maddux and her mother are visiting friends and relatives at Pine Rive. Mr Maddux will join them as soon as he finishes assessing.

Messrs Gillespie and Cary gave an opening dance on Friday evening of last week, had a large company of young and old who tripped the light fantastic until the small hours.

Mr. Nelleton is erecting a dwelling house on Lincoln street.

Messrs Frank and Westley Fulls have gone to Dakota, Frank for the good of his health and Westley to buy land.

Miss Lillie St. Clare of Sterling, spent Saturday and Sunday in this town visiting Miss Edith Hubbard.

Dr. Selden was called to Curtis, on Saturday of last to prescribe for Mrs. Birch who was quite ill.

Pete Hanson of Centralia, will stand behind the county in C. F. Stone’s store and measure off ribbon to the ladies. Wm. Slosser has occupied the position of head clerk in that establishment for some time and will be missed by his many friends.

Mrs.. Salisbury will commence her Juvenile Singing School on Wednesday of this week.
