THORP TIDINGS: L. H. McGuire and wife, of Cadott, were in town on Tuesday.

Ed. Wendell and Geo. Jacques, of Spencer, were in the village on Monday. Mr. Jacques was here for the purpose of buying stave timber and constable Wendell was on the quivive for a man who had stolen goods from Spencer.

Geo. H. Lusk and E. P. Brown and ladies and Messrs. H. F. Sergeant, Charles Stafford, Geo. B. Parkhill and Master Frankie Lusk went to Boyd on Monday evening to attend the roller skating ink and witness the expert skating done by M. DeViolette, a professional from Green Bay. They returned Tuesday morning and reported having had a very pleasant time.

Ole Moon, a Norwegian, and resident of this town was arrested by constable Ole Anderson and taken before Justice Lamphear on Monday last, for using abusive and obscene language on ur streets in the presence of ladies, while under the influence of the “o-be-joyful: bug juice. He pleaded guilty and was fined five dollars and costs amount to about ten dollars. Thus the unfortunate hardworking farmer is punished for his wrongful acts while the transient lumberman who is guilty of a like offence is seldom complained of, and sometimes is not arrested by the officers after he has been complained of.

Anton Rusk, our shoemaker, is so rushed with business that he has engaged H. Greenhagen, of Eau Claire, to assist him.
