--------- Sill, Wilhelmine (13 FEB 1840 - 19 JUN 1925)

Last Friday morning, one of the oldest settlers of this city (Colby, Wis.) departed from this life, namely Mrs. Wilhelmine Sill. She was born Feb. 13, 1840 in Rummelsburg, Province of Pommern, Germany, and was united to Fred Sill 53 years ago, who now survives her. In 1881 her husband came to America, making his permanent home in Colby, where his wife and children joined him the following year. For the past thirteen years, Mrs. Sill was an invalid and Monday, June 15, suffered a stroke, which greatly weakened her, and, without a struggle, she quietly passed away.

Of five children, three died previously: Carl and Ernestine, first wife of Wm. Kowalk, and Paul; two are still living: Frank Sill of this city and Ludwig Sill of Chippewa Falls, and nine grandchildren. She reached the age of 85 years, 4 months and 6 days.

Her body was laid to rest on Tuesday afternoon in the Colby Cemetery after appropriate services in the Zion Lutheran Church, Rev. A. Kirchhoefer officiating.

The deceased was another one of our pioneers who helped build this country out of a vast wilderness and her life work was completed, if work all done and well done constitutes completion. She lived a beautiful Christian life, but alas, "Death loves a shining mark", and so it came.
