Surnames: KRAMER KRUEGER MERTENS PRANGE KINDNESS ---------Source: COLBY PHONOGRAPH (Colby, Wis.) 07/23/1925 --------- Kramer, Barnhardt (26 APR 1849 - 17 JUL 1925) Mr. Barnhardt Kramer, one of the oldest settlers of this section, passed away at the Marshfield Hospital last Friday, July 17, 1925, a stroke of paralysis being the cause of his sudden demise. Mr. Kramer arrived at the hospital last Monday morning. Friday, while the nurse was not in his room, he suffered a stroke of paralysis and quietly passed away. Fuenral services were held Tuesday morning at the Catholic Church, Rev. Lachnit officiating, and interment made at the Colby Catholic Cemetery. The deceased was born in Germany April 26, 1849, and came to the U. S. in 1872, making his home in Copper Falls, Mich. He was married in Eagle Harbor, Mich., forty-five years ago and came to this locality (Colby, Wis.) in 1886 and engaged in farming until several years ago when he moved to town. Besides his wife, seven children mourn his departure to the undiscovered country, namely: Barnhardt Kramer, Ypsilanti, N.D., Joseph Kramer, Milwaukee, Mrs. Anna Krueger, Phillips, Mrs. Mary Krueger of Colby, Mrs. Katherine Mertens, Fond du Lac, Elizabeth Prange, Milwaukee, and Emma Kindness, Milwaukee, and eighteen grandchildren. All the children were here for the funeral and Mr. Albert Krueger, Phillips, and family and Mr. Mertens, Fond du Lac, and family. Mr. Kramer led a very beautiful life, worked hard, like all our early pioneers, and was a man of generous impulses. He was a devoted husband and a kind and indulgent father, and had many friends who join the bereaved relatives in mourning his loss. |
