Obit: Frane, Joseph (1854 - 1926)
Surnames: FRANE HERTEL KRAUS BEYERL ---------Source: COLBY PHONOGRAPH (Colby, Wis.) 01/21/1926 --------- Frane, Joseph (1854 - 12 JAN 1926) Joseph France, whose death was reported in this paper last week, was laid to rest Friday, Jan. 15th, a solemn Requiem High Mass being read by Rev. H. Lachnit, assisted by Rev. Wm. Reding of Wis. Rapids, and Rev. H. J. Artman of Durand, Wis., former pastors of the St. Mary's Congregations. The sermon was delivered by Rex. Wm. Reding, an old friend of the deceased, and burial ceremony by Rev. H. J. Artman. The remains were accompanied from the house to the church by the Catholic Order of Foresters, followed by the city council and supervisors of neighboring towns. The deceased, who died at the age of seventy-one years, was born in the province of Quebec, Canada, and went to Fond du Lac when fifteen years old. He was married to Catherine Hertel in 1878, and in 1882 moved to the town of Unity, Clark County, Wis., where he settled on a farm. In 1908 he sold his farm and located in Colby, where he resided until his death, Jan. 12, 1926. His wife died in the year 1910. Seven children were born to them, four sons and three daughters. Two sons, William, age twenty-four, Leon, age seven, and one daughter, sister M. Kathleen, age twenty-one, preceded their parents to the undiscovered country. Two sons, Victor of the town of Colby, Louis F., city of Colby, two daughters, Mrs. C. Joseph Kraus of Colby, Mrs. A. R. Beyerl, town of Colby, twenty-two grandchildren and his wife through second marriage, mourn his sudden departure. Also, two brothers and one sister, Dell Frane of Seattle, Wash, David Frane of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Josephine Beland, Minneapolis, Minn. Those from out of town here for the funeral were David Frane, Mrs. J. Beland, T. A. Pratt, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Frane, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Frane, Mrs. John Lellman, all of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Anna Andrews of Thorp, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. B. LaPorte and Mrs. A. LaPorte of Wausau, Wis., M. J. Kraus of Fond du Lac, Wis. and John Mais, Medford, Wis. |
