The Blair House was sold on Tuesday of last week to Attorney Smith, representing Mrs. T. T. Proctor, John A. Head and the First National Bank of Fort Atkinson. Under the new owners Mr. Alex Sires is employed as manager, and everybody knows Alex can keep a hotel in good shape. He sees that the tables are well supplied with the best the season affords; has a well trained corps of attentive waiters, and the guest’s comfort is looked after in every way. When you go to Merrillan, just try a meal at the Blair House.

Saturday evening, Jan. 2, the young folks were invited to Mr. Austin’s to celebrate Miss Ida’s birthday. Beautiful presents, excellent refreshments and heaps of fun was the order of the evening, and a grand wade home in the snow.

Miss Clara Moody called on her friends here on her return to Withee.

Miss Belle Chandler and Grace Schofield have gone to the city to visit friends.

PEACEFUL GLEN: C. E. Forman is real well, for him.

Abe Whalen is slashing down timber to beat everything.

Clark Bostwick was home on a visit, but did not stay long.

Len Cole is drawing logs to Farling’s mill.

Mr. Wm. Cole is on the gain. It is hoped he will be around again soon.

Mrs. Jack Connor, of the town of Grant, was up and paid Mrs. Silas Delano a short visit.

Mrs. Cook’s son-in-law is up here on a visit. He likes the country very well and has sent for his wife.

Jack Connor has bought considerable timer around here is making staves. Silas Delano is at work for him.

Geo. Slater has returned from Chicago. He don’t like Chicago as well as he anticipated. He is going to work in Farling’s mill.

LONGWOOD; F. M. Sears is laid up with rheumatism.

Mrs. John Sanders made a business trip to Thorp Friday. F. J. Sheldon reports taxes coming in rather slow.
