Make a note of this: If a piece of charcoal is laid on a burn the pain will subside immediately, and if left upon the wound for an hour it will cure it. This seems almost incredible, but as a piece of charcoal is readily procurable it should be kept in every house for immediate use and its efficacy tested.

Mr. Jacob Brown and wife who have been cooking in Paul’s camp, the past winter, will, after the drive is over, go on Paul’s farm No. 2 to work during the summer. Their post office address will be Lynx. Jacob does everything up Brown, as we can testify, for he came in and settled up with the printer in good shape.

SUICIDE: Quite an excitement was created on our streets early yesterday by the announcement that Mrs. Chas. Simons had committed suicide by hanging. The report proved true. It seems she arose about daylight, and taking a clothes line, went to the barn and adjusting it to a pole, overhead, while standing on a nail keg, fixed a noose around her neck, kicked the keg from under her and fell about six inches, her feet nearly touching the floor. Last summer she had a sun stroke and since then has been partially insane, finally ending in self destruction.
