--------- Eder, George (8 JUL 1847 - 6 MAR 1928)

Funeral services for George Eder were held at the Catholic Church last Friday morning, Rev. Lachnit officiating, and interment made in the Colby Cemetery.

The deceased was born in Fulton, Wis., July 8, 1847, and died March 6, 1928, chronic leukemia being the cause of the departure from this earthly life. Thus he reached the age of eighty years, seven months and twenty-seven days. The deceased served in the U. S. Army during the Civil War and came to this locality with his wife and a few small children in 1877, when this vicinity was still a vast wilderness, and located on a piece of land in the town of Green Grove, Clark County, Wis. By hard and diligent work, he built a fine farm, and, like all our early pioneers, he was a man of generous impulses and never forgot the hospitable ways of the pioneer. He filled the various relations of life as son, husband, father, brother and friend, and filled them well. But now he is gone and another name is stricken from the ever lessening roll of early pioneers and Civil War Vets.

His departure is mourned by the following children: Henry B. Eder, Colby; John Eder, New York; Joe Eder, Newark, N.J.; Mrs. Mary E. Thomas, Banksville, Pa. Also the following brother and sisters: Joe Eder, Hilbert; Mrs. Mary Koler, Fredonia; Mrs. Anna Wolf, Hilbert, Wis. His wife preceded him to the Great Beyond.

Those from out of town here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wolf, Hilbert; Joe Eder, Hilbert; John Eder, New York; Vivian Eder, Madison; Everett Eder, Phillips, Wis.
