--------- Rodenburg, Anna (4 DEC 1862 - 3 OCT 1928)

Mrs. Anna Rodenburg, one of the early settlers of this community (Colby, Wis.), died of dropsy at the home of her sister in Daytona, Fla., Wednesday, Oct. 3, 1928, at the age of 65 years and 10 months. Funeral services were held at Daytona Beach Saturday, Oct. 6th, and interment made in the Daytona Beach Cemetery.

The deceased was born in Liebenstein, Austria, Dec. 4, 1862, and came to the U. S. in 1883. In 1884 she was married to Fred Rodenburg in Chicago, Ill. Five children were born to this union. Two of them died when quite small in Chicago. She and her husband came to this locality (Colby, Wis.) thirty-three years ago and, by hard work and privations, built a fine farm. Her husband passed on to the great beyond two years and four months ago.

After the death of her husband she made her home with her son, Henry Rodenburg, until last February, when he moved to Florida. She then lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kropelin, until June 30th, when she went to visit her sister in Chicago, and, on Sept. 1st she went to Florida to sse her son, Henry, at DeFuniak, Fla., where she stayed for several weeks, until she was taken sick, and then went to the home of her sister at Daytona, Beach, Fla., where she passed away.

Her departure is mourned by three children, three sisters and one brother. The children are: Henry Rodenburg, DeFuniak, Fla.; Mrs. Lena Kern, Colby; and Mrs. Adelaide Kropelin, Colby. The sisters and brother are: Mrs. John Wurthman, Daytona Beach, Fla.; Mrs. Marie Werener, Chicago; Mrs. Lena Luehrs, Wellesley Hills. Mass.; John Pfeffer, DeFuniak Springs, Fla.

Friendship's circle to her was a large one, for none ever entered her home without a warm welcome nor left without feeling the warmth of a genuine hospitality, so characteristic of the early settlers.
