William Henry Buchholz, one of the earliest settlers of this section, died Monday morning, Dec. 16, 1929, and will be buried from the Zion Lutheran Church this Thursday afternoon, Dec. 19th, at 2:00 o'clock, the Rev. A. Kirchhoefer officiating.

The deceased was born Dec. 29, 1842, at Hanover, Germany. He was married Feb. 15, 1877 to Bertha Wollenberg, who died twenty-one years ago. One son, John, preceded his father in death. The following are the children still living: Mrs. Martha Weller, August, Mrs. Minna Berg, Karl and Arthur, thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was one of the earliest settlers of this section, as he settled on a farm two miles southwest of Colby, Wis. before 1880. At that time this was still a vast wilderness, but by hard work and privations, built a fine farm. He was one of the four charter members of the Zion Lutheran Church, and is the last to pass on to the heavenly goal. He attained the age of eighty-six years and seventeen days.

He was a man of sturdy constitution, fine moral character and of excellent habits, and like all early pioneers, never forgot the hospitable ways of the early settlers.
