Obit: Loertscher, Margaret (1915 - 2003)
Wednesday, November 5, 2003 edition of the Tribune-Record-Gleaner Margaret Loertscher Margaret L. Loertscher, 87, Loyal, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2003, in the Palliative Care Unit of Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Peace United Church of Christ, Dorchester. The Rev. Robert L. Everhard officiated. Burial was in Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Nephews served as pallbearers. Margaret L. Paur was born Dec. 15, 1915, in Medford, to John and Anna (Nee Widmer) Paur. She was educated in the Town of Browning at Taylor County Elementary School. After her education, she worked at the Gad Store, and then moved to Milwaukee, where she worked as a housekeeper. She married Wilfred "Bill" Loertscher on May 26, 1938 in Jackson. They farmed in the Medford area from 1942-1952. Then they farmed in the Loyal area from 1952 until they retired in 1975. Her interests included gardening, making maple syrup, quilting, knitting, sewing and reading. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Dorchester and Beaver Center Homemakers. Survivors include her husband, Wilfred "Bill" Loertscher, Loyal; one daughter, Donna Roemer, Mukwonago; one son, Gary (Sue) Loertscher, Madison; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Emil (Gladys) Paur, Medford; and two sisters, Lydia (Herb) Loertscher, Anamosa, Iowa and Helen Hirsch, Delevan. Preceding her in death were her parents; one son-in-law, Paul Roemer; and one brother-in-law, Herb Hirsch. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph's Hospice and Palliative Care Unit. Hemer Funeral Service, Medford, assisted the family with arrangements. |
