News: The Clark Republican and Press 12-17-1896
Source: The Clark Republican and Press Date: 12-17-1896 G. Hoseley of Lake Benton, Minn., visited relatives in this city last week, returning home Saturday. He is a brother of Gus Hoseley. J. B. Lower has sold his confectionery business on Fifth street to Ole Hauge the drayman, who will quit the dray business and attend to the store. John Henning, of Chili, visited the county seat Monday. John is a timber inspector and is sometimes out in the woods for weeks at a stretch. Rev. T. Grafton Owen preached in the Unitarian church Sunday, both in the morning and evening. He returned to his home in Arcadia Monday morning. R. B. French has made a large lumber deal with a firm in Chicago and is now shipping lumber by the car load to that city, and is well satisfied with his deal. L. D. Worden was a caller at this ovvice Monday. Worden never fails to gladden our hearts when he strikes town. He don’t do it by bringing us a load of pumpkins either. William Schildhauer, who several years ago worked for his brother Henry in the register of ddes office, visited this city last week to renew his acquaintance with his former friends. Sheriff Page has appointed James G. Taylor as under sheriff. This no doubt will be unexpected, and a surprise to some who were after the position themselves and there were quite a number. |
