News: The Clark Republican and Press 3-25-1897
Source: The Clark Republican and Press Date: 3-25-1897 Ex-Register of Deeds Wm. Zassenhaus, of Green Grove, was a visitor at the county seat yesterday. It does one good to see Williams’ smiling face on our streets once more. Mrs. Cortz Gates died at her home in Merrillan Saturday morning, at the age of 49 years. Her husband died about two years before her. Mrs. Gates was a sister of Mr. J. A. Kimball, of this city. Philip Kemeter of Granton, met with an accident in his stave and heading factory in that village and brought a part of his machinery here yesterday which was taken to Taplin’s foundry for repairs. Ole Reistand and J. E. Johnson arrived in this city Tuesday from Hayward where they have been working in John Paul’s logging camp No. 1 with Louis Brillion as foreman. The boys are a jolly good lot of fellows and we are glad to see them back to the city. August Snyder has been tendered a position as messenger in the Adams Express Company, with headquarters at Chariton, Iowa, to which place he started for Monday. His family will remain here for a time at least, but sooner or later he expects to move them to Iowa. |
