John Murphy, of Christie, while working a road machine one day last week was struck on the knee with one of the levers of the machine and had his knee cap broken.

Monday someone celebrating threw a fire cracker beneath a team which Clarence Breed had in hand, when the horse jumped and he was thrown and hand one leg badly injured.

YOUNG BOARDMAN FLEW: It is reported that while in Chili attending the celebration Saturday that Clair Boardman of this place assaulted a 13 year-old daughter of August Prust who lives in the town of Fremont, and tore her clothing very badly. The constable of that town arrested the young man without a warrant and brought him to this city, arriving here about two o’clock Sunday morning, and attempted to turn his man over to Sheriff Page, who refused to take him without a warrant. Boardman hung around the city all day Sunday and sometime during the night got parties to drive him to Merrillan, where it is said he took a train for Chicago. If the above reports are turn he should have been retained and should receive just punishment. Who is to blame for letting him get away?
