Jas. G. Taylor left Monday noon for the state capital. Mr. Taylor has secured a position there, being place in charge of the committee rooms in the capital building.

Miss Vinnie Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Jones, is convalescing, after a severe tussle with typhoid fever, at Duluth, where she has been the past few months.

Chas. Youmans opened up a blacksmith and wagon shop at Chili the first of this week. Such was the news he imparted to us Tuesday while in the city. He also repairs engines and boilers, and will no doubt fill a long felt want for Chili.

A young lady of this city saw in a newspaper an advertisement offering for twenty-five cents to send a recipe for a sure cure for freckles. She sent her “quarter” and this is what she got. Remove the freckles carefully with a putty knife; soak them over night in salt water, then hang up in the smoke house in a good strong smoke made of saw dust and slippery elm bark for a week. Freckles thus treated never fail to be thoroughly cured.

Frank Johnson was over from Black River Falls Tuesday.

Ben Zimmer’s condition has not improved any the past week.

Sheriff Tufts took Gustave Radtke of Colby, to the Mendota infirmary Monday.

Thos. Jones came down from Duluth last Friday, where he has been the past two years.

Leo Redmond is slowly recovering from his long siege of sickness, and is now able to sit up.

Albert Story, brakeman on the branch passenger, has been transferred to the main line ofr a short time.

Mrs. Jas. Conlon, residing on Hewett street, slipped and fell on the ice last week and severely injured herself.

/w. H. Nettleton, of Garden Valley, Jackson county, formerly of this, is visiting his sister, Mrs. E. P. Houghton.
