News: The Clark Republican and Press 5-11-1899
Source: The Clark Republican and Press Date: 5-11-1899 Quite a number of young people enjoyed a day’s outing at Dell;s Dan the “The Spring” last Sunday. The party included among others the Misses Delia Beardsley, Anna Johnson, Grace Dickinson, Rose Neverman, May Beardsley, Nina Hommel, Callie Johnson and Mrya Beardsley, and Messrs. Bert Hart, Guy Matheson, Guy Youmans, Fred Runkel, and George Bergen. Owing to an almost imperative demand for Milwaukee brews of beer, the O’Neill House sample room, to better suit its trade, will hereafter have on tap the celebrated Val. Blatz lager, and will also handle in bottles the Schlitz and the Anneheuser-Busch Budweiser brews of beer. I. H. Bradford, a brakeman who was temporarily filling the position of D. L. Haskins on the local freight between Merrillan and Marshfield, met with a painful though not serious accident Tuesday. He was coupling cars and caught his fingers between the bumpers, injuring them badly, though not severely enough to necessitate amputation. Dr. Esch dressed the wound. District Attorney Marsh recovered his lost bicycle last Friday, it having been returned to him by a young man who had found it lying underneath a culvert one mile south of the city. It was in good condition excepting that the handlebars were loose, which fact perhaps was the cause of the thief leaving the wheel where he did, being unable to ride farther without tightening the set screws. Shadow Sociable: A grand opportunity for the ladies to sell their shadows will be afforded them at a sociable to be held at Granton, Thursday eve, May 18. The proceeds will be expended for the benefit of the I. O. G. T. Ladies are requested to bring baskets. Shadows will be sold at auction. |
