News: The Clark Republican and Press 11-23-1899
Source: The Clark Republican and Press Date: 11-23-1899 Jas. MacLeod was in the city from Spokeville Saturday. John Bryden, of Greenwood, called on Friends here Thursday. Sam Jones, of Humbird, has been in Neillsville on business this week. L. C. Rogers and W. W. Lyons were two Loyalites seen on our streets Tuesday. H. J. Brooks went up on Wedges’ creek Friday to kill a few thousand deer. John Huntley came home last week for a few days’ visit with his family. John Tufts went to Black River Falls Saturday to see the Augusta-B. R. Falls football game. Michael Finucain, of Clifton, Monroe County, was among the land seekers in this county last week. Mike Pfrang, of Plymouth, arrived here this morning for a week’s visit with Mr. and Mrs. John Wolff, the lady being his daughter. Mrs. James Houston and her two daughters, from Fifield, are visiting Mrs. Mont Brown and other friends in the city. Miss Catherine Alexander closed a very successful term of school in Dist. No. 2, Pine Valley, (west of Black River bridge) on Wednesday of this week. That cement sidewalk in front of Bruley’s and Austreng’s places of business is open right for traffic and you need not take the other side of the street. Mr. Lester Tilton, who is looking after the interest of the J. L. Gates Land Co. in this vicinity, has rented the Meyer house on the north side and will reside there. Orson Cornwell has recently painted his new barn and put some improvements on his house, on his farm west of town, giving the premises a neat and thrifty appearance. Amelia Deutsch came home Monday night from Whitewater, where she had been attending the Normal School. |
