Source: The Clark Republican and Press Date: 3-1-1900 As Rudolph Knoop was coming down from the armory the evening of the military ball he slipped on the icy sidewalk and fell striking on the back of his head with such force as to produce unconsciousness. He was carried to the doctor’s office, and after being restored to consciousness he was taken home. He has about recovered from the effects of the fall. Those low sidewalks, over which the melting snow runs, are dangerous localities. ADDITIONAL CORRESPONDENCE: GLOBE: Mr. Galligan returned from Marshfield Monday. Misses Clara and Nettie Free spent Sunday at home. Mr. and Mrs. Glasow celebrated the anniversary of their wedding day and Mrs. Glasows birthday Feb. 24, with a dance, and everybody had a good time. They are getting in the supply of wood at the butter factory. Mike McMann got his hand crushed very badly at the saw mill Tuesday. He was taking away from the saw and got his hand between a plank and the roller. Mr. Galligan took him to town here he had it dressed. WITHEE: A light fall of snow this morning. The loggers are still improving the snow. Mr. Hurley, the depot agent, is on the sick list. A new dress-makers shop in town, conducted by Mrs. Larvidson, the barber’s wife. Dr. E. F. Burns of Stanley makes his regular trips to Withee every two weeks, his next trip being March 8th. Now comes the trial of night work in Owen’s mill. Mr. John Baity is the lumber scoler. He is hustling the W. C. R. R. Co. for cars, as he is rushing the lumber. The Owen’s mill dray is kept bery busy now-a-days, transporting freight from the Withee depot to the mills. |
