While in town Tuesday W. S. Irvine informed the Chronicle scribe that he had just finished cutting up the second crop of hay on a 4 acre piece of new seeding, and the yield was enormous. The first cutting gave him six tones of hay, but the second time he got ten tons, making sixteen in all, and he says if the present weather lasts two weeks he will put in again. We can beat the world on crops in Clark county.

THORP COURIER – H. Friess shipped a car containing 175 sheep to Chicago on Sunday last, F. A. Babcock accompanying the same. Mr. Friess also shipped four car loads of oxen from Rice Lake the same day accompanying the shipment himself.

John Van Able purchased John Moore’s farm, south of the village, on Thursday last. He returned to Brown county on Saturday, and will arrive here with his family about 10th, and take charge of his new home.

COLBY PHONOGRAPH – The new bank building is about completed and is a beautiful building. The lower part is ready for the fixtures, which will be placed this week, and then as soon as the safe reaches here it will be ready for business. Mr. Andrews, the cashier, says they are ready to open and will begin business as soon as the safe is placed, which it is hoped will not be later than the 10th.

LOYAL TRIBUNE – Improvements are still going on at Mulvey’s drug store. He has purchased a secondhand boiler and is putting a heating apparatus under the store building.

Miss Jennie Alexander returned Saturday from her home in Neillsville and commenced her duties as (teacher?) Monday.
