Bernard Dahlke

Bernard J. Dahlke, 71, Colby, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, in the emergencry room of St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Visitation will be held at the Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, on Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 4-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., and again on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 4 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby. The Rev. John Malik will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Colby. Pallbearers will be DuWayne Dahlke, Jr., Mike Seefeld, Greg Blasel, Tony Flink, Chuck Chapel, and Don Betzner.

Bernard Joseph Dahlke was born on April 2, 1932, in Colby, to Bernard P. and Elizabeth (nee Sterzinger) Dahlke. He married Marie Podevels on June 11, 1952, in Edgar. They farmed in the Town of Frankfort until 1955, and then farmed the family farm in the Town of Hull until 1978, when they moved to their new home in the Town of Frankfort. He was employed by Marathon Electric, Wausau, for 17 years and later worked for Gottschalk Granite and Construction, Marathon. At the time of his death, he drove delivery truck and helped in the Smith Brothers Meats plant, Colby. He was a past supervisor of the Town of Hull, the town chairman in the Town of Frankfort, and active member of the Colby Lion's Club, served as the Lion's district governor in 1987-1988, was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, and was president of the Athens Fire Commission. His interests included cooking and catering at the annual steam engine days in Edgar and deer hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Dahlke, Colby; two sons, Duwayne (Sherry) Dahlke, Curtiss, and Delmar (Cindy) Dahlke, Colby; one daughter, Sharon (Randy LaPoint) Reyzer, Reeves, Louisiana; five sisters, Dorothy Betzner, Edgar, Verjean (Tom) Steiner, Wausau, Mary (Tom) Stack, Stratford, Barbara (Ronnie) Schoenfuss, Stratford, and Jeanette (Ted) Schoenherr, Mosinee; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant brother; and one grandson, Shawn Dahlke.

Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, is assisting the family with arrangements.
