GEORGE ROBERT EGGETT

Night watchman at the Wisconsin Buttertub Company.

George Robert Eggett was born in Great Kelk, Yorkshire, England, February 21, 1866. He received his education in Driffel and Nefferton, Yorkshire. His parents and their children immigrated to Canada when he was 17 years old, settling in Maddock, Ontario. Before going to Canada he worked on farms. After working as a section hand in Canada a year, he came with his parents and other members of the family to Greenwood. During the next 15 years he followed farming in summer time and logging woods work in Wisconsin during the winters, except one season, during which time he worked in the woods in the state of Washington. Next he farmed in the town of Loyal, Clark County, 15 years. Then he located for 12 years on a farm in the village of Loyal. This farm was acquired as a trade for a larger farm in the town of Loyal. In another trade, he acquired residence property in the city and moved here five years ago. Excepting one winter spent in England visiting relatives and the scenes of his boyhood days, he has been with the Buttertub Company since coming to Marshfield.

Mr. Eggett was married to Louise Sempf of Greenwood in a Presbyterian Church in LaCrosse 26 years ago. One son, Fred William, Venice, California, was born to them. Mrs. Eggett died when he was 6 years old. His second wife, to whom he was married at the Methodist Parsonage in this city, died in Loyal six years ago.

Politically, he is a regular Republican.

His hobbies are reading and traveling.
