Surnames: SCHOTTLER MERTENS WESSOLOWSKI GRODA FEUSTEL ---------Source: OWEN ENTERPRISE (Owen, Clark County, Wis.) 10/03/1929 --------- Schottler, Adam (1868 - 29 SEP 1929) Adam Schottler, residing two miles west of the village of Withee, Clark County, Wis., passed away at his home Sunday afternoon at 1:40, after an illness of more than two years, the cause of death being cancer. He was one of the early settlers of that section of the country. He leaves to mourn his wife and two children, Clarence, who is at home, and Mrs. Ed Mertens, also of Withee. Funeral services were conducted from the Catholic Church at Withee, Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock and interment took place in Riverside Cemetery. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of a large number of friends at this time. (Follow on in 10/10/1929 Owen Enterprise) Adam N. Schottler, a resident of the town of Longwood, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 1929, at his home two miles southwest of Withee. The deceased was born on a farm near Germantown, Washington Co., Wis., Sept. 28, 1868. Mr. Schottler was the eldest son of Balthazaar and Catherine Schottler, nee Groda. When he was a boy 14 years of age his father died, July 14, 1898. He was united in marriage to Emma Margaret Feustel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Feustel. The year 1898 Mr. Schottler's mother died, leaving him administrator of the estate. He moved to Clark County in May 1901, where he resided until the time of his death. He was one of the founders of the Sacred Heart Church in Withee, and trustee for 21 years. Funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart Church at Withee on Wednesday, Oct. 2nd at 10 o'clock, Rev. McGuire of Abbotsford officiating. Interment was made at Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Schottler is survived by his wife and two children, Clarence and Mrs. Edward Mertens, and two grandchildren; one brother, Dr. J. G. Schottler and one sister, Mrs. John J. Wessolowski of Milwaukee. Relatives attending the funeral from out of town were: Dr. and Mrs. J. G. Schottler, Mr. and Mrs. John J. Wessolowski and son John Jr., Mrs. E. J. Koenen and daughter, Marcella, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Koenen, Mr. and Mrs. John T. Koenen and family, Herbert West, Miss Eleanor West, John J. Feustel, Mrs. Louis Stern, Prof. And Mrs. Joseph S. Feustel and daughter, Nora and son, Roman of Sheboygan, Mathew Feustel of Fond du Lac, Mr. and Mrs. John Brown and son, Frank of Antigo. |
